dream catchers and display

The dream catchers we made in class, suspended from the ceiling in the entrance to the school. This has created a more contemporary space through interesting presentation. The display uses space significantly more effectively than in prior examples. 

Masks

Setting up a space in which to work with the children on the start of the D.T project.  Taking 5 studetns at a time for workshops so 5 seats set out with appropriate materials and booklets that I designed in place.

Step 1 example I prepared for them to see. After the paper mache has been placed over the balloon and left to dry, I cut away shapes and made base for Mask design.

Some really interesting and individual outcomes! Children mostly stayed true to their design concepts, but those that changed we discussed their changes, the reasons for change etc and all evaluation sheets were filled in accordingly.

Based on primary levels 1-4 ability...
Already been decided to have higher ability children so plan will be based on levels 3-4

Who wore masks, why, did anyone in a midsummer nights dream wear masks? Why?
Can you think what they might look like...

I developed a set of booklets for the children with a small amount of research info on the front cover, an example of these booklets are in my folder. these are sets of images taken from just a small number of them. They pose questions such as;

"What equipment will I use?"

"What materials will I use?"

At this point we could discuss the difference between materials and equipment. It gave me and the students a cue to discuss and relate Ideas. 

They then had a first Ideas section to draw basic/initial designs, followed by a full page to do a colour/design plan. 

Later on we would discuss and evaluate the practice, process and our final masks.
